Bartender

Your Contribution

NAV CENTRE is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Bartender in Cornwall, Ontario.

Overall Responsibilities

To serve drinks to Stone House guests in a prompt and friendly manner and to ensure the bar area / serving area is safe, sanitary and hazard free.

Essential Functions

  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Adheres to the daily, monthly and additional cleaning schedules as requested.
  • Adheres to all the cash and credit guidelines.
  • Gets the bar keys from the supervisor at the beginning of each shift if necessary.
  • Ensures that the register and credit card machine are working properly.
  • Verifies the par inventory and restock if needed for the shift.
  • Creates the bar and/or liquor order if required.
  • Ensures all glassware is clean and available.
  • Ensures everything is clean, and the bar is ready to open.
  • Strictly adheres to the LSOP for serving guests.
  • Performs accurate cash transactions in a prompt and friendly manner.
  • Keeps work area and the guest areas clean during service.
  • Provides the last call for service 15 minutes before closing time.
  • Closes the bar at the scheduled time.
  • Prepares the cashier report.
  • Cleans and sanitizes the work area at the end of the day and lock down the bar area.
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum experience level is 2 years in a high paced, detailed demanding service position.
  • Proven experience working in a fast pace demanding high stress environment where guests require full service, knowledge and detail.
  • Must be bilingual with in French and English (other languages are an asset).
  • Must have experience serving wine, beer and liquor. This includes proper opening and service of wine and sparkling bottles.
  • Knowledge of bar terminologies such as rocks, twist, dirty, etc. and can successfully apply them to appropriate drinks with proper ingredients.
  • Must have experience with fine dining menu items, flambé, wine pairing service, and dealing with allergies, intolerances and sensitivities.
  • Must have smart serve and a demonstrated ability to recognize the signs of intoxication.
  • Must have knowledge of food safety and physical safety practices within a food service environment. Demonstrated knowledge for proper food handling and service within the principles of HACCP.

Skills / Aptitude

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as a team.
  • Demonstrates the ability to go above and beyond for guests. Able to identify service opportunities for excellence and have the tools to deliver.
  • Knowledge on how to deny alcohol to a guest in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Uses tact and diplomacy in dealing with difficult situations and has the ability to defuse service issues.
